Reader Response Essay Draft 1

In the article "Developing Sustainable Infrastructure in New Cities", Cho (2014)  claims that the enhancement in performance and volatility of infrastructure is needed to accommodate the 21st century's fast urban growth. She mentions that there are economic, social and environmental challenges for considerations in addition to the conservation of energy resources. She argues that overcoming the challenges is crucial in creating a sustainable and efficient infrastructure development. The writer then cites the application of the Envision Sustainability Rating System in her Impact King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC) Fellowship in Saudi Arabia. However, there is inadequate analysis on the effects of these enhancements within the cities that makes her stand incomplete.

The first reason of the inadequate analysis is the technology advancement along with the sustainability of infrastructure. Khanna (2015) writes about the various innovations that came about due to the increasing population in the Asian cities. The writer explains the application of a tailored private bus service route that incorporates the demand of the different citizens' needs in Singapore. He also cited an example of a real-time alerts on the natural disasters through crowd-sourced information from the residents in Jakarta, Indonesia. However, Cho's article did not analyse the technology advancement that came along with the infrastructure. As such, the article only presents the generic enhancements on the community.

Besides, she did not analyse the negative effects that the enhancements have on the infrastructure itself. The enhancements that she presents in her article are positively impacting the community. The writer in the article "Restore and Improve Urban Infrastructure" mentions the fourteen challenging factors for Engineering in terms of infrastructure. As the enhancements improve the citizens' quality of life, the problem is to provide an affordable place for them to stay with the increasing demand for the integrated systems. Furthermore, the enhancements will also require a large amount of grant and support from the government for improvement of the infrastructure instead of replacement after the infrastructure wears out.

In conclusion, while Cho's article presented the general advantages of these enhancements on the community, her argument is incomplete due to the inadequate analysis on the effects of these enhancements within cities. It is important to look at both positive and negative impacts that the enhancements would have on the cities and the citizens. However, overcoming the challenges that were mentioned in Cho's article are is crucial to strive towards the overall goal of creating a sustainable and efficient infrastructure in the community.

The Importance of English for Me

English Language is definitely essential in my everyday life. It is the way to communicate with people that I meet and interact in the society. I have worked for almost two and a half years and English Language undeniably allows me to communicate effectively with others.

English Language is not the spoken language in my family. I know it has to be spoken often to excel or converse fluently in the language. Thus, I use it to converse with people in the other areas of my everyday life.

I understand the importance of English. It will allow me to understand more about the person through the different aspects as they speak. Some of the aspects are observing their gestures, facial expressions and emotions that they display as they speak. I cannot imagine a situation in which I can assist a person but am unable to converse or understand that person. As my work revolves around working with students too, I will be unable to complete my tasks if I could not converse with them.

In short, I feel strongly that English language is important as it is the common language for communications. I will speak and converse in the language often as it will allow me to execute tasks effectively. I cannot deny how important English is essential even in my daily life routines.
